Today on the blog we're going to show you how to cook some dog food recipes, completely homemade! As we know that there are many dogs that unfortunately have food allergies, these types of dishes can be very good for them!

Homemade dog food recipes vet approved

Needless to say, even if your dog doesn't have allergies, you can still prepare one of these delicious dishes, full of quality ingredients, thus providing him with a nutritious and healthy diet.

Even so, from Dogalyo, we will always recommend that you consult a vet about the diet your pet should follow before feeding it on your own, as, in specific cases, it may need certain vitamins or minerals, or even have to take into account the issue of quantities, which, depending on the dog and the breed, they need a greater or lesser amount.

But if you have already consulted with him and you are going to start feeding him with homemade recipes, here are 3 great recipes with which your pet will be perfectly nourished.

Having said that, you should know that our dogs should eat all the food groups, i.e., carbohydrates, proteins, good fats, fruits, and vegetables, to enjoy a healthy and balanced diet. We must avoid feeding them fatty or prepared foods because they are unhealthy and full of preservatives and toxins that can be harmful to their bodies.

When trying new dishes, your dog may experience an allergic reaction, as this is a common occurrence and they can develop an allergy to a new ingredient that is introduced into their diet. If you detect any symptoms of this allergy, we recommend that you go to the vet immediately to find out which food has caused this reaction and thus avoid including it in your pet's diet again.

3 delicious homemade dog food recipes

1. Scrambled eggs for dogs

  • Ham or low-salt turkey
  • Eggs
  • White rice

First of all, we are going to boil some unsalted water with a little rice for this dish. The rice will provide our dog with an important amount of carbohydrates. While the rice is cooking, put a drop of olive oil in a frying pan and spread it well with a bit of paper so that our scrambled eggs don't stick. When it's hot, we break the eggs directly and mix them, avoiding the formation of an omelette (remember, we want scrambled eggs with ham, not a French omelette).

Add the finely chopped turkey, or ham, and mix well. Turn off the heat and set it aside immediately after.

When the rice is done, drain it well and add some to the pan. Turn the heat back on and sauté everything together to blend all the flavors. Remove it from the heat, let it cool down a bit, and that's it! A healthy and nutritious dog food recipe that we are 100% sure they will devour.

2. Macaroni and veal

  • Beef (in steaks or minced)
  • Pasta (preferably fresh pasta)
  • Natural tomato sauce (if you can have crushed or grated tomatoes, all the better)
  • Chopped carrot

Let's start with the veal. The first thing to do is to check that there is not much fat. If this is the case, remove it with the help of scissors or a knife. Once it is clean, if it is a fillet, cut it into cubes (if it is minced meat, this step is not necessary) and add it to a frying pan, previously heated with a few drops of olive oil.

At the same time, add the carrots, cut into slices, and sauté for 3 or 4 minutes. Then add a little water and leave it to continue cooking over a low heat for about 10–12 minutes. When this time is up, add the homemade tomato sauce, stir, and leave for another 10–12 minutes.

Handmade sauce tip: Peel some tomatoes, cut them into cubes, and puree them in a blender! In a few seconds, you have homemade tomato sauce! and 100% natural.

While it is cooking, boil the water in a pot with the pasta, and as soon as it is ready, drain it and add it to the frying pan to stir it with the rest of the ingredients. After mixing it all together, leave it to stand for a few minutes so that it can cool down a little. This will undoubtedly be one of his favourite dishes!

3. Tuna delicacies

  • Tuna (cans of tuna in their natural state)
  • Flour
  • Grated carrot
  • Egg

Remove the tuna from the can, drain it well, and mash it with a fork until it is completely crumbled. When it is ready, add a couple of eggs, a couple of spoonfuls of flour, and the grated carrot. (We do not have exact measurements, but it is something like a sponge cake.) If you see that it is too thick, you can add a little water. Meanwhile, we are going to preheat the oven to 392°F for 10 minutes.

When you have the mixture ready, put it in a baking dish, and when it is hot, put it in the oven and lower the temperature to 356ºF for 15 minutes. And that's it! A delicious way of eating fish for our dogs.

As you can see, these are very simple recipes that you can prepare in a very short time. If you liked them, don't hesitate to share them!
